About Dr. King D.C.

Dr. Shelly (Rachelle) King, D.C.

Since she was a little girl, Tewksbury native Dr. Shelly King was fascinated by the human body. She spent many hours engrossed in the book “Your Body and How It Works” and decided at a young age that she wanted a career in the medical field. Since she also loved animals, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.

As a pre-med major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Dr. King considered many career paths, from veterinary medicine to acupuncture. She briefly considered medical school, but soon realized that she was uncomfortable with both surgery and prescribing medications. She decided she wanted to help people in a more natural way and get to the root of the problem instead of masking the symptoms with drugs.

In 2002, fate interceded and Dr. King began to experience lower back pain due to sitting on unsupportive high stools at the lab where she was working. Her parents had experienced good results with their chiropractor so she decided to give it a try. Within a few treatments her pain was gone! Impressed by how the chiropractor was able to diagnose and treat her problem with little more than his hands, she began to consider chiropractic as a career. After lots of research and soul-searching, she decided to go for it. After graduating from WPI in 2003 with high honors, she enrolled at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. She and her boyfriend (now husband) packed their van and embarked on a four year adventure in Oregon. In 2008 she graduated as valedictorian of her class with a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic). They then packed their van again and headed home to MA in order to get married, start a family, and open a practice.

For two years, Dr. King worked as an associate chiropractor for Dr. Doug Maguire at Fairway Chiropractic in Tewksbury, the same doctor who had inspired her to pursue a chiropractic career. Shortly after giving birth to her first son in 2010, she opened the doors to King Chiropractic in Chelmsford.

Dr. King considers herself blessed to have a job that she truly enjoys. She loves meeting new patients and taking the time to get to know them as a whole person, not just a symptom. Her mission is to teach people about their bodies and how to take care of them.

Hello!

Dr. Desiree (Frasier) Van Asselberg, D.C.

Dr. Frasier grew up in Manchester, NH and graduated from Manchester Memorial High School. She then went on the Southern New Hampshire University to study Elementary Education. After graduation, she met a chiropractor that inspired her to reassess her goals and dreams. In 2010, she traveled out to the mid-west to attend chiropractic school and went on to graduate from Northwestern Health Sciences University. She was privileged enough to spend her last year of school in a very diverse clinic and worked with doctors that specialized in chiropractic sports medicine, pediatric chiropractic, and general chiropractic practice. Dr. Frasier spent 3 weeks in Costa Rica for a chiropractic mission trip where she was able to see her patients get back to work without debilitating pain within 1-2 visits. She knows chiropractic is what she was meant to do in life and feels blessed to be living her passion.
